About the National Technology Award
The National Technology Award is instituted by the Technology Development Board (TDB), a statutory body under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. It is conferred annually on National Technology Day — May 11 — the date commemorating India’s Pokhran nuclear tests in 1998, a landmark moment in the nation’s journey towards technological self-reliance.
The award recognises Indian organisations that have successfully developed and commercialised indigenous technologies of national significance. It is among the most credible technology recognitions in the country, as recipients are selected through a stringent two-tier evaluation conducted by an eminent panel of scientists, technologists, and industry experts — assessing both the depth of the technology and its demonstrated commercial and societal impact.
In 2023, eleven organisations were recognised across five categories. The award carries a cash prize of ₹15 Lakhs and a national citation presented by senior officials of the Government of India. Past recipients span some of India’s most impactful technology organisations across sectors including healthcare, agriculture, energy, and defence.
Why xIoTz Won?
xIoTz was recognised specifically for the development of its Unified Cyber Assurance Platform — an indigenous technology that addresses one of the most critical and underserved challenges in India’s digital economy: making enterprise-grade cybersecurity accessible to the country’s 63 million MSMEs. The evaluation panel acknowledged the platform’s strong commercial potential, its indigenous development, and its measurable impact in democratising cybersecurity for businesses that have historically been priced out of adequate protection.
As the sole winner in the Women-led MSME subcategory, xIoTz’s recognition carries additional significance — affirming the company’s standing not only as a technology innovator but as a model of women-led entrepreneurship in India’s deep-tech ecosystem. The distinction places xIoTz among an elite group of Indian companies to have received direct acknowledgment from the Government of India for indigenous innovation with national-scale impact.
